90th Annual Report

President's Report

The 2010/2011 season has been another great year for our club and one with another growth in membership. That only happens when a club has a very active Executive and good volunteers to help. It is very pleasing to see so many families competing in events, as sport is a healthy activity. We rely on members volunteering, especially during the cross-country season. The perform the timing, judging, recording, handicapping and act as course officials. We are fortunate to have Kim "Bob the Builder" Delaney as a member as he stores, transports and erects all of the equipment for our major events. He is assisted by Chris "The Irishman" Mullen with transport, plus other members. Our Novice Day Manager, David Beck, has our volunteer team fully organised to conduct a very efficient NSW Championship.

Our finances are in excellent shape due to the expertise of our Treasurer, Dennis Jolliffe. Our finances allow us to support our activities and assist young athletes. This year we had a slight reduction in total funds.

Jim Gallagher and Kim Delaney manage our track and field competition. They attend all of the meetings. Ray Russell is always in attendance to supervise his excellent group of young throwers. Our sthletes have continued to produce some superb results and records, personal bests and improvements. In the elite competition we had Ben St Lawrence, Belinda Martin and Bridey Delaney showing the way in distance running. Chadi Elashkar has also shown improvement over the longer distances. The young throwers are doing super, especially Matilda Werner who has made the under 17 years Australian squad. So we have lots of good role models in our club.

Our Annual Awards list shows a very good list of achievers. To make the list takes time and dedicated training. This is an incentive for others to make that list, so just set out to do it.

I thank the Athlete Foot Hurstville for their generous prizes for our events and the discount they offer to all club members. Gordon Bucton's butchery also donates sausages for the Novive Day BBQ.
